Overview
Katia Beauchamp is an American entrepreneur who co-founded Birchbox in 2010, pioneering the beauty subscription box model that transformed how consumers discover and purchase cosmetics.[1] Under her leadership as CEO, Birchbox grew to serve over 1 million subscribers globally and generated more than $200 million in annual revenue at its peak.[1][2]
Born in Austin, Texas, and raised in El Paso by a single mother of Mexican descent, Beauchamp graduated from Harvard Business School in 2010 during the Great Recession.[8][9] She launched Birchbox immediately after graduation with co-founder Hayley Barna, identifying an opportunity in the beauty industry where less than 2% of sales occurred online.[1] The company raised over $100 million in venture funding and was valued at $485 million in 2014 before being acquired by Retention Brands in 2023.[6]
After stepping down as Birchbox CEO in 2022, Beauchamp served as CEO of Victoria Beckham Beauty until January 2025.[4] She has been recognized as a pioneer in beauty e-commerce and subscription commerce, receiving awards including the Women's Entrepreneurship Day Pioneer Award and inclusion on multiple "30 Under 30" lists.[8]

She graduated from Vassar College in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in International Studies and Economics.[8] After working in finance for several years, she enrolled at Harvard Business School, graduating with an MBA in 2010.[1] Her class was unusually entrepreneurial due to the Great Recession limiting traditional job opportunities, with many classmates launching startups instead of pursuing corporate careers.[1]
