Overview
Eric Glyman is an American entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of Ramp, a corporate finance platform that reached a $32 billion valuation in November 2024, five years after its founding.[4] The company processes over $100 billion in annual purchase volume for more than 50,000 businesses.[1]
Glyman previously co-founded Paribus, a price-tracking application that automated price protection for online purchases, which was acquired by Capital One in 2016.[11] He graduated from Harvard University in 2012 with a degree in Economics and East Asian Studies.[6]
Ramp became the fastest New York startup to reach unicorn status within two years of founding and has raised $2.3 billion in total funding.[9] The company's mission centers on helping businesses reduce spending through automated financial processes, with customers spending an average of 5% less after switching to the platform.[5]
Early life and education
Glyman was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he graduated as valedictorian from Green Valley High School in 2008.[6] He worked at an Express retail store during high school.[8]
He attended Harvard University, where he earned an A.B. in Economics and East Asian Studies in 2012.[6] During his undergraduate years, he studied Mandarin Chinese at the Harvard Beijing Academy in 2009 and served as a visiting scholar at Peking University in 2011, focusing on finance, accounting, health economics, and anthropology.[6] Glyman is fluent in Mandarin, Portuguese, and Spanish.[6]
Career
Millstein & Co. (2012–2014)
After graduating from Harvard, Glyman worked as a financial analyst at Millstein & Co., a restructuring and corporate finance firm.[6]
Paribus (2014–2016)
In 2014, Glyman co-founded Paribus, a price-tracking application that automated price protection and shipping guarantees for online purchases.[11] The company built an AI agent in 2015, nine years before artificial intelligence became mainstream in business applications.[8]
Capital One acquired Paribus in 2016, and Glyman continued to lead the team as Senior Director of Paribus within Capital One's US Card division until 2019.[6]
Ramp (2019–present)
Glyman co-founded Ramp in 2019 with the goal of creating a financial operations platform that helps companies save time and money through corporate cards and expense management.[6] The company's approach contrasts with traditional financial services by focusing on helping customers spend less rather than encouraging more spending.[5]
Under Glyman's leadership, Ramp achieved significant operational efficiency improvements, with the average receipt submitted in approximately two minutes compared to the industry standard of about one month.[1] The company reached a $22.5 billion valuation in August 2024 and increased to $32 billion just three months later in November 2024.[4]
Glyman tracks the company's age precisely, noting in 2024 that Ramp was "2,367 days old" since its founding.[2] The company has saved customers billions of dollars and processes over $100 billion in annual purchase volume.[1]
